Move to Cymru Premier champions a “new challenge” for Aeron Edwards
Aeron Edwards reveals that signing for newly-crowned Cymru Premier champions Connah’s Quay Nomads is a “new challenge” that he is “looking forward to.
The Nomads were named Cymru Premier title winners last week, as the FAW confirmed the end of the current season.
Edwards, 32, has since joined from title rivals The New Saints in a high-profile transfer in Wales’ top flight.

The midfielder told Sgorio’s Dylan Ebenezer that “It’s been a bit of a whirlwind. It’s a new challenge for me and I’m looking forward to it.”
“I feel it’s the right decision for me and my family – that’s what I’ve gone for and I’m happy with that.”
The Nomads’ manager, Andy Morrison, and coach, Craig Harrison, who worked with Aeron Edwards during his time at TNS, were both key factors in the midfielder’s decision to move to the champions.
Edwards revealed that Morrison made it clear “just how much he wanted to sign me.
“He thinks signing me will take Connah’s Quay to another level. He’s put his faith in me and I’ve gone with my heart – I wanted a new challenge.”
“Craig (Harrison) has a very similar temperament to me. We just want to win everything; it’s the same with Andy and everyone at Connah’s Quay.”
Edwards’ time at The New Saints was hugely successful, winning nine Cymru Premier titles, six Nathaniel MG Cups, five Welsh Cups and a Goal of the Season award that he earned while scoring against the Nomads.
The former Saints midfielder insists that leaving the club was a difficult decision, saying that “it’s been very hard. I’ve been at TNS for one third of my life.”
“It’s sad saying goodbye to all the lads and the people at TNS. I’ve had eleven superb seasons there.
“It was a difficult decision to say goodbye to my friends – I had to phone everyone the other day.”
“They were sad I was leaving but happy I’ve had a two-year deal – I’m looking forward to playing against them.”
“I’ve had 11 amazing seasons but it just felt like the right time to go.”
“I’d just like to say thanks to everybody at TNS and I’m looking forward to seeing all my friends.”
