Penybont: Mael Davies joins as Hutson and Saddler depart
Penybont have added Cardiff Metropolitan’s Mael Davies to their squad whilst two players have departed.
Mael Davies joins Rhys Griffiths’ side from Cardiff Metropolitan, where he moves on after one season at Cyncoed Campus.
The 21-year-old made 24 appearances for the Archers this season, scoring five goals this season.
As Davies arrives at the SDM Glass Stadium, two of Penybont’s Invincibles have announced their departures from the club.
James Saddler has confirmed that he will be leaving the club via social media.
The 28-year-old made 23 league appearances for the Bont this season but will be moving on to pastures new for the start of the next JD Cymru Premier campaign.
The Welshman was a long-standing custodian for Barry Town United before joining the Bridgend club, saying on his departure: “I want to wish everyone involved with @PenybontFC_ all the very best for next season and beyond,”
“I really enjoyed my time with the club and won’t forget our undefeated season.”
The club also announced that Curtis Hutson would be leaving, as Rhys Griffith’s side lose another member of their unbeaten promotion squad.
A former Barry Town and Goytre United player, the attack-minded midfielder will also be moving on before the next season begins.
Posting on Twitter, Hutson said: “I just want to say thank you to Penybont, Rhys Griffiths plus many more for everything over the last few years including the incredible unbeaten season.
“Some serious memories and all the best for next season.”
