John Disney: Connah’s Quay Nomads defender signs new one-year deal with Cymru Premier champions

Connah’s Quay Nomads defender John Disney has extended his stay with the club by signing a new one-year deal.

Disney has put pen-to-paper on a new deal with the JD Cymru Premier champions which will see him remain at the Deeside stadium until the summer of 2021 at least.

The 28-year old is in his second spell with the club after departing the Nomads for Altrincham Town in May 2017 before returning to the Welsh top-flight with Bala Town.

The defender re-joined the Nomads in 2018 and was a key part of the squad who helped the club on their way to a domestic double this season, lifting the league title and Nathaniel MG Cup.

Disney also featured in the Europa League for the Nomads this term and will have the chance to again next season, as Andy Morrison’s men qualified for the competition for a fifth consecutive campaign.

He has made more than 100 competitive starts under Morrison in his two spells with the club, scoring four goals in the process.

“I’m happy to have extended my stay back at Connah’s Quay,” said Disney.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back in training with the great bunch of lads we have and continue the success the club has seen over the last few seasons.”

Manager Morrison added: “I’ve worked with Dis for over a decade – I’ve watched him grow not only as a footballer but more importantly as a man.

“He’s a player I trust and you can never have too many of them in your team.”
