Aberystwyth Town: Owain Jones and Rhys Davies join Seasiders

Aberystwyth Town have announced Welsh duo Owain Jones and Rhys Davies as their first new signings under Gavin Allen.

Jones joins the Cymru Premier side after spending the last two seasons at Merthyr Town.

Former Swansea City youth player, Owain Jones, made 72 appearances for the Martyrs after joining from Nuneaton Borough.

He was announced as Gavin Allen’s first signing since being appointed manager of Aber earlier this week.

“I am really excited to make the move to Aberystwyth,” told Jones atfc.org.uk today.

“After some great conversations with Gav and Baz over the last year I feel that this is the right move for me. I can’t wait to get going when it’s safe to do so.”

He was later joined at Park Avenue by defender Rhys Davies, who joins from Vanarama National League North side Hereford.

“I am really excited to be signing for Aberystwyth and playing in the Cymru Premier League, looking forward to getting started and showing everyone at Park Avenue what I can do and having a successful season,” said Davies after making the move to Aberystwyth.

Last season, the 18-year-old made 27 appearances for the Bulls and spent sometime on loan at Merthyr Town.

Before making the move to Hereford, he was previously on the books of Chippenham Town and Nuneaton Borough, linking up with fellow Aber recruit Owain Jones.
