Regions Cup: UEFA cancel 2020/21 edition of Regions Cup

UEFA have announced that they have cancelled the 2020/21 edition of the Regions Cup. 

An almost all-star Cymru North XI, managed by newly-appointed Llandudno assistant Guy Handscombe, was set to take on a similar XI, managed by Pontypridd Town boss Jonathan Jones in May.

The two were due to meet in a two-legged playoff was set to determine who would represent Wales in the 2021 UEFA Regions Cup.

The winners were due to play in December 2020 against Bulgaria, Russia and the victor of Azerbaijan, Estonia, Georgia or Sweden. 

However with the fixture postponed and the competition cancelled, it leaves Wales waiting until 2023 for the next tournament. 

Wales, represented the South Wales FA, made up of a squad of mainly players from the South Wales Alliance League, reached the intermediate round in the 2019 edition after finishing second in Group A in 2018.
