Aberdare Town: Manager Josh Evans dismissed from Aberaman Park with ‘immediate effect’
Aberdare Town manager Josh Evans has been dismissed from his role with the Welsh Football League Division Two club with immediate effect.
The club said Evans’ position with the club “became untenable following serious breaches of club policy and dishonesty”.
Evans, who has previous managerial experience with Merthyr Saints and Pontlottyn, was appointed as manager in October after succeeding former boss Simon Jones.
But the club have announced that he will now leave his role after eight months at the helm.
A statement from the club read: “Aberdare Town have, this evening, dismissed Josh Evans as manager of our men’s team with immediate effect.
“His position with the club became untenable following serious breaches of club policy and dishonesty.”
Evans, who took charge of 12 games during his time in charge at the club, told Y Clwb Pêl-Droed: “With regards to the claim of dishonestly, I would like to clarify the situation.
“I stated that I held an FAW C Licence. However, this was not the case but my intention was to complete that course in due course. I would like to point out that a C Licence is not mandatory in Aberdare’s league they currently play in.
“I would like to thank all the players that we worked with during the season for their effort and commitment in the 12 games that I was in charge.
“Last, but not least, I would like thank my coaching team Colin and Craig Reddy and Andrew Needs.”
Evans’ side finished 15th in the Welsh Football League Division Two table before the campaign was curtailed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The final standings were determined on a points-per-game basis, ensuring the club finished in the relegation zone.
However, it is unclear whether Aberdare will face relegation to the South Wales Alliance League, with a decision on whether promotion and relegation will be implemented this season set to be announced later this month.
