Caernarfon Town captain Nathan Craig has departed the club ‘in search of a new challenge’ it has been announced.

After six years of service following a second spell at the club, Craig is moving on from The Oval and seeking pastures new.

Amassing over 200 appearances for the Gwynedd club, the 28-year-old was an integral part of their success in the Cymru Premier, securing two top-six finishes and a Welsh Cup semi-final.

The 28-year-old returned to his hometown club after two years away where he featured for Torquay United, who were then in the English Football League.

During his second time at Caernarfon, Craig led the Canaries to two Cymru Alliance titles.

In an emotional message penned by Craig to the Cofi faithful, he said: “I’ve been thinking hard over the last few weeks about my place in the Caernarfon squad.

“It has been a hard time of weighing and measuring and the decision is not an easy one to do.

“The Caernarfon team have been in my heart ever and the Caernarfon boy. I feel that I’ve succeeded in everything I’ve done to Caernarfon and feeling it’s time to move on for a new challenge.

“I understand that this might be disappointing to many associated with Caernarfon and I can’t thank everyone for their support over the years of the staff backroom, the players I’ve had the pleasure of playing with but especially to the Cofi Army. A very special group of people who have a special place in my heart.”

During his second time at Caernarfon, Craig led the Canaries to two Cymru Alliance titles.

The Caernarfon Town cult-figure also worked tremendously hard in the community for the club and was partly recognised after the club won the Fun Football Provider of the Year at the FAW Trust’s Grassroots Awards.

“It has been an honour to represent my local club over the years and also be a captain,” added Craig.

“I am also very proud to have had the opportunity to be a community football officer for the club, develop local children’s skills and an honour to see them succeeding and develop confidence.”
