Cymru Leagues: A geographical look ahead of the 2020/21 season

With the 2020/21 Cymru Leagues line-up now finalised after promotion and relegation was implemented, it is time for a geography lesson.

Do you as a Welsh football fan wonder, “Where are these teams based?” If you do, you’ve come to the right place.

Below you will find where each club is located, how far you have to travel to find their closest Cymru Leagues rival and precisely where the stadiums are in those towns and cities.

Cymru Premier 2020/21

With Flint Town United and Haverfordwest County taking the place of Airbus UK and Carmarthen in the Cymru Premier, we have a slightly different looking map.

Haverfordwest County become the sole representative of West Walian football as Pembrokeshire’s Premier club.

We could see some new derbies from the resulting promotions and relegation. With just over three miles separating them, Flint Town United v Connah’s Quay could be the derby to look out for next season.

Teams: Aberystwyth Town, Bala Town, Barry Town United, Caernarfon Town, Cardiff Metropolitan, Cefn Druids, Connah’s Quay Nomads, Flint Town United, Haverfordwest County, Newtown, Penybont, The New Saints.

Cymru North 2020/21

Llanidloes Town and Penrhyncoch will be set to do some travelling when they travel to places such as Anglesey and the Gwynedd when they take on Llangefni and Holyhead Hotspur.

We’re also going to be treated to plenty of derbies again. After their relegation, Airbus versus Buckley, two teams quite near to one another could be a derby to watch out for.

Teams: Airbus UK, Bangor City, Buckley Town, Colwyn Bay, Conwy Borough, Gresford Athletic, Guilsfield, Holyhead Hotspur, Holywell Town, Llandudno, Llangefni Town, Llanidloes Town, Llanrhaeadr, Penrhyncoch, Prestatyn Town, Ruthin Town.

Cymru South 2020/21

There will be Port Talbot Derbies galore next season with no fewer than four teams from the area competing in the Cymru South.

Afan Lido and Goytre United, already in the Welsh second tier are joined in the division by Welsh league champions Trefelin and former top-flight outfit Port Talbot Town.

If you add in nearby Briton Ferry then there’s bound to be some exciting match-ups next season. Swansea University and Llanelli aren’t too far away either as the South becomes a bit more western.

A considerable gap in the Cymru South map is notable absence of a representative from the capital city.

After Caerau Ely and STM Sports were relegated, Cardiff isn’t represented in Wales’ second tier.

The closest you have to Cardiff is Taffs Well, just on the outskirts of the City.

Newly promoted Risca United are also smack bang in the middle of Cwmbran Celtic and Pontypridd.

The Cuckoos are back at this level of football after a three year absence.

Teams: Afan Lido, Ammanford, Briton Ferry Llansawel, Cambrian and Clydach Vale, Carmarthen Town, Cwmbran Celtic, Goytre United, Llanelli Town, Llantwit Major, Pontypridd Town, Port Talbot Town, Risca United, Swansea University, Taffs Well, Trefelin BGC and Undy Athletic.
