Rabbi Matondo warned by Schalke for wearing Borussia Dortmund shirt
Rabbi Matondo has been warned by FC Schalke after being pictured wearing a Borussia Dortmund shirt.
The 19-year-old wore a Borussia Dortmund shirt with Jadon Sancho’s named blazed on the back, during a post-season workout.
Matondo was rung by Schalke’s sports director and warned of his conduct, branding his actions ‘unacceptable‘ in an interview with Sky Sports Germany.
“I made it clear to Rabbi Matondo on the phone what I thought of such a rash action,” said Jochen Schneider.
“He is only 19 years old but he should not have allowed this to happen.
“We clearly told him that he had to show the right reaction to his misconduct on and off the pitch.”

Matondo issued a statement on social media: “Addressing the pictures circulated on social media of me in the shirt of our biggest rivals, I am very sad and disappointed in myself for letting everyone associated with Schalke down.
“I want to clear this situation up and most importantly apologise to everyone at the club, in particular our incredible fans.
“Causing such hurt and upset was absolutely not my intention.”
Matondo had previously been on the books of Manchester City like good friend Jadon Sancho.
Sancho gave Matondo advice when the Welshman moved across to Germany in January 2019.
The Wales international scored two Bundesliga goals in 20 appearances this season.
