Fans may be able to attend England versus Wales fixture – reports

Wales’ friendly fixture with England in October could be played in front of spectators according to reports.

Ryan Giggs’ side are due to play the Three Lions at Wembley Stadium on October 8, however the fixture was announced as behind-closed-doors.

However, the Daily Mail is now reporting that the match has been pencilled in for a potential return for spectators.

In their report they claim the UK Government are looking to partially reopen Stadiums by October 1 and that this friendly between the two sides from the United Kingdom could be the first to house fans.

However, The FAW announced on 16 July that all their fixtures are scheduled to be behind-closed-doors for the foreseeable future, so any update will be communicated by the Welsh governing body.

Bala Town, Barry Town United, Connah’s Quay Nomads and The New Saints will all play their European qualifiers without spectators following a UEFA ruling.

On the international front, Ryan Giggs’ men have two UEFA Nations League fixtures against Finland on September 3, 2020, and Bulgaria on September 6, 2020, which is due to be played behind closed doors.

Jayne Ludlow’s side face Norway in their UEFA Women’s EURO Qualifier on Tuesday, 22 September and that is due to be played without no fans present.

Three of Wales’ intermediate teams are due to play their European Championship qualifying fixtures in September without spectators.

The Under-21s side will be playing Bosnia & Herzegovina on Friday, 4 September, in Zenica.

Rob Edwards’ U19’s side are due to house Austria, Germany and Serbia in Wales from Wednesday, 2 September to Tuesday, 8 September also.
