L.A. Wolves forward Philip Hephzibah has been offered a trial by Cymru Premier outfit The New Saints.
Hephzibah will head to Oswestry for a ten-day trial at Park Hall, as he aims to impress their staff in search of a permanent contract.
The forward was spotted by TNS during a tryout in Washington for Major League Soccer side D.C. United.
Hephzibah was born in England but has lived in Los Angeles, for a considerable time.
The 19-year-old has been playing in the United Premier Soccer League, the unofficial fifth tier of American football, with the LA Wolves.
Commenting on the trial offer, Hephzibah said: “It was really mind-blowing actually because once I got the text saying I got a call from The New Saints FC in Europe, and that was one of my biggest dreams, to play in Europe, so once I got that message my heart soared.
“I hope to make the team. I want to show that I can be a player of that level.
“I’ve been training hard and so I need to show I’m ready for the next level. I’d like to thank L.A. Wolves FC and Club President Yan Skwara and General Manager Mike Asfall for the opportunity to play for L.A. Wolves.”
His head coach, Mike Asfall, also commented on the trial offer: “Philip has been with us the last two years and he he’s been a big asset for the club’s program.
“Philip is very strong, very fast, and he’s a smart player. He doesn’t go into tackle half-(hearted). He has a very high soccer IQ.”
