The 2020/21 JD Cymru Premier season will begin on Friday 11 September.
After discussions with Sport Wales and the Welsh Government, the league has been granted elite athletic status by the relevant bodies.
This has entitled the Welsh top flight to start its season in September, with the league starting the same time as the Premier League and Sky Bet Championship.
Initially, matches will take place without spectators, with the FAW working closely with the Welsh Government on when further restrictions can be lifted.
The start date provides clubs with just over three weeks to prepare for the 29th edition of Wales’ top league.
However, Cymru Premier clubs have had friendlies lined up and now they can be permitted in aiding them with their preparations for the new season.
Clubs below the Cymru Premier will still have to abide by Phase Two guidelines, meaning friendlies against other teams are prohibited and they will only be able to train amongst themselves.
