Drefach FC have suspended training at all age levels after confirming that players from the Carmarthenshire club have tested positive for COVID-19.
As part of the Football Association of Wales’ (Faw) phased Return to Training, clubs were given the go-ahead to train in groups of 15 from August 10, with contact training re-introduced at all levels of the game.
But now, nearly a month after the club returned to the training pitch, they have been forced to pause their preparations ahead of the much-awaited return of league action.

A club statement, issued earlier today, said: “As you may be aware, some senior players have tested positive for Covid-19.
“We immediately advised Public Health Wales and are liaising with them on a continuing basis.“
“We are awaiting further advice from them and assure you that we will update you further as soon as it is received.
The Cymru Premier – Wales’ top-flight league – is currently the only competition that has been permitted to get back underway, with the new season set to kick-off this Saturday, September 12.
The cluster of 12 cases which have been reported in Drefach is centred around a presentation evening which was held at Drefach Cricket and Football Club on Saturday August 29, the South Wales Guardian has said.
The club, who play in the Carmarthenshire League Division Two, concluded by saying: “In the meantime, training at all age levels has been suspended until further notice and/or until we are advised otherwise.
“If anyone is concerned that they have come into contact with somebody who has tested positive then they should refer to the WAG/NHS protocols.“
