Nomads duo Andy Morrison and Priestley Farquharson win Cymru Premier manager and young player of year awards

Connah’s Quay duo Andy Morrison and Priestley Farquharson scooped the manager’s and player’s year awards after winning the title last season.

The Nomads won the Cymru Premier for the first time in their history after the season was shortened due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Morrison won the award after being nominated by his fellow managers whilst Farquharson was awarded it from a panel vote.

“Some great managers have been awarded this, so I’m very proud,” expressed Morrison.

“I thought I’d have a fair chance of being in the running, I’ve been nominated for the past four years, it’s really special.

The former Manchester City defender Morrison claims the award for the first time in his managerial career.

As well as lifting the league title, the Nomads also won their maiden Nathaniel MG Cup in February.

“We went on a great run unbeaten until Christmas, only lost two games, won the League Cup and ultimately awarded the title, it was a fantastic season.

“We’re chomping at the bit and ready to go again.

Centre-back Farquharson was named in the Team of the Season in July, alongside Callum Morris, Danny Holmes, George Horan, Lewis Brass and Michael Wilde.

The England beach International put pen to paper on a new deal with the club in July shortly after the news, despite reported interest from KV Oostende.

“It feels great. I’m chuffed because I had a great season,” said the 23-year-old after claiming the award.

“I want to keep going, hopefully I’ll win another trophy.”

Farquharson was a key factor in the Nomads’ title success as they tasted defeated just twice all season.

“Being a part of it is a massive thing. I’m just proud to be a Welsh champion.”

With last season now a distant memory, Connah’s Quay begin the defence of their Cymru Premier trophy tomorrow when they host Bala Town at Deeside Stadium.
