Wales winger Gareth Bale is reportedly keen to go out on loan to Manchester United in a bid to get more game time.
The 31 year-old has once again fallen down Zinedine Zidane’s pecking order, making just 14 starts in the league last season.
He featured for Ryan Giggs’ side in their recent UEFA Nations League matches against Finland and Bulgaria respectively, which they subsequently won.
Bale, however, was hooked off at half time in the first game against Finland. He has not made more than 30 league appearances in a season since the 2014/2015 campaign.
A loan move could now be possible for the Welshman though, with The Times reporting that the former Spurs player would be open to a Premier League return with Manchester United.
Madrid finally willing to let Bale go?
Before those recent internationals, Bale sat down with Sky Sports and again expressed his desire to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.
There have been two issues standing in the way of his exit. One of those is the Welshman’s expensive wages which have put off the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United from making a move for the Welshman.
Bale, though, points the finger at the hierarchy at his current employers, saying they have made things ‘difficult’ after pulling the plug on a move to China last year.
“I want to play football, I am still motivated to play, so I guess it’s on the club. They are in control of everything.” Bale told Sky Sports.
“I have a contract and all I can do is carry on what I am doing and hopefully something comes up.”
MATCH SHARPNESS KEY FOR WALES
From Wales’ perspective, they need Bale playing week in, week out at this stage of his career, particularly with Euro 2020 looming.
When he and Juventus playmaker Aaron Ramsey are fit, as they were at Euro 2016, the Red Dragons can be a dangerous opponent for any side they come up against, no matter who it might be.
At the moment neither of them are first-choice players in their preferred positions and that might be a problem moving forward.
A loan move would be perfect as it would mean United may be able to share the cost of his wages with Madrid and Bale could gain valuable game time he has ultimately craved.
The saga is far from over, but Bale is adamant he wants to leave and that could become a possibility if Los Blancos can agree a deal with one of his potential suitors.
