Change to UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying format

UEFA have made changes to the qualifying format of the 2020/21 Women’s Champions League.

Wales will be represented by Swansea City after they won the Welsh Premier Women’s League following the curtailment of the 2019/20 season.

They will enter at the first qualifying round stage alongside 39 other teams, with the aim of qualifying for Round of 32.

In normal circumstances, four teams usually play in the first qualifying round.

Instead, the first two qualifying rounds will take place as single-legged ties, similar to how Cymru Premier clubs competed in the Champions League and the Europa League.

The draw is to take place on October 22, with matches taking place on November 3 and November 4.

With a later date for qualifying, Swansea will have played three league games before beginning their European campaign.
