Welsh national team bosses Jayne Ludlow and Ryan Giggs will be allowed to make five substitutions after a ruling change made by UEFA.
Next month, the men’s national team will play three matches, including two Nations League fixtures with Bulgaria and Ireland.
Meanwhile, Jayne Ludlow’s side have crucial home qualifiers against Belarus and Norway, as they continue for a place in the European Championships.
The ruling also applies to Swansea City Ladies, who will be competing for Wales in the UEFA Women’s Champions League in November.
The rule change will allow managers to make two additional subs in their matches.
In a short statement on their Twitter, UEFA tweeted: “Up to five substitutions will be allowed for all matches played in the #NationsLeague, European Qualifiers play-offs, Women’s EURO Qualifiers, the #UCL, the #UEL and the #UWCL, for the remainder of the season. The number of players allowed on the match sheet = 23.”
Other changes announced by UEFA include a national team calendar for the upcoming year, subject to FIFA approval.
Three games have been pencilled in for March, whereas the months of May and June have been touted for preparation for EURO 2020.
Another three games will be played between August and September, before a return to the normal format for October, November and March.
