Bala Town have snapped up defender Ryan Pryce

The Lakesiders continue to strengthen their squad with the capture of former Cardiff City defender Ryan Pryce.

Released from the Bluebirds over the summer, the 23-year-old was signed from The New Saints back in 2018 and impressed in the Cardiff City Under 23 squad where he was a regular starter until the end of his contract.

“It’s a good club that do things the right way and seem to be getting stronger each year,” said Pryce after joining the Lakesiders.

“Hopefully we can be in and around it and challenging.”

Commenting on his newest addition, manager Colin Caton said: “I’ve always been a big admirer of Ryan when he was at TNS, he can play in a number of positions, he can play anywhere across the back, and he can play anywhere across the front line as well in wide areas.

So it’s great to have him on board, as we’ve got a couple of injuries at the moment, so he’ll add good strength to us, but not just in terms of numbers for some of the lads that are struggling at the minute.

With the big push of games in terms of mid-week and weekend games that have taken its toll on the lads, so Ryan will give us fresh legs when he has an opportunity to play for us.

“During his time at TNS I was a big admirer of him, he had great quality and travels really well with the ball and he’s got great quality in and around the final third, he can play as fullback or wide in a front three, or as an attacking midfield player, and he’s a top lad as well.

“He was released by Cardiff City, obviously he’s been trying to get into the pro game but nothing has materialised, so he’s waited until the transfer window and we’re lucky he’s agreed to join us really, so I’m really looking forward to working with him, and he’ll be a great addition into the squad”

Starting his football at Shrewsbury Town, Ryan has also appeared for Cefn Druids as well as had trials at Middlesbrough.

Pryce will be available for selection for tomorrow’s JD Cymru Premier fixture at Newtown.
