Stoke City and Wales keeper Adam Davies set for spell on sidelines

Wales have been dealt a blow after Adam Davies was ruled out with an injury.

Davies, will be out of action for eight weeks, leaving Wales with limited options in the goalkeeping department.

In his pre-match conference, Stoke City manager Michael O’Neill revealed the extent of Davies’ injury after sustaining it in their defeat to Swansea Ciy.

“Adam’s got a medial knee ligament injury, sort of estimated time frame could be four to eight weeks,” said the Potters boss.

“Hopefully it’s the lesser amount, four weeks’ recovery, but at this minute in time he’s gone for a scan, his knee is immobilised and we just hope he makes a speedy recovery.

“He’s certainly going to be out for the next couple of weeks and probably longer.”

“He’s done very well at the tail end of last season and starting this one as number one.

“He’s faced a different challenge now with Angus Gunn coming to the club and it’s unfortunate for him with the timing, having just established himself and now finding himself on the sidelines.

First choice goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey has been ruled out until February, leaving just Danny Ward as Ryan Giggs’ only option.

Ward, however, has been limited to a handful of first-team opportunities, having played an understudy role to Kasper Schmeichel.
