Paul Bodin is due to announce his squad for their fixtures against Germany and Moldova tomorrow.
Wales are bottom of the group and will want to avoid finishing last with Moldova at the Racecourse Ground their fixture on November 13, before a trip to Germany four days later.
Bodin’s side are unable to qualify for the final tournament following four defeats in five games.
So with only pride to play for, should he consider calling up some of the best young talent in the Cymru Premier.
For too long, the league has been overlooked by many and there have been plenty of detractors.
However, the success speaks for itself in providing a platform for young players.
During their time in the league, Barry Town United trio George Ratcliffe, Momodou Touray and Sam Bowen were included in the Wales Under-21 squad.
Connor Davies, 18, Penybont, RB
Displacing Cameron Coxe, who was well thought of during his time at Cardiff, will be a tough task.
Connor Davies though has been impressive for Penybont since joining them following his departure from the Bluebirds.
His performances have shown a maturity beyond his years, picking up two clean sheets this season, as well as a narrow defeat to champions Connah’s Quay.
Jack Wilson, 19, Havefordwest County, ST
The name on everyones lips at the moment is Jack Wilson.
During the leagues semi-hiatus, Wilson has put in impressive performances against Bala Town and The New Saints.
Wilson has four goals in eight appearances this season with a majority of his goals put the Bluebirds on the glory trail.
Even if Wilson misses out this time, he is a player who has consistently delivered for Wayne Jones’ men and he was recently awarded for his efforts with a new contract.
Whether that contract offer is a deterrent to fend off potential suitors or a statement of intent from Haverfordwest remains to be seen, but whatever happens, they sure have a talent on their hands.
Evan Press, 20, Barry Town United, CB/CDM
Featuring in all nine of Barry’s fixtures this season, Evan Press’ is building on an impressive first season last year.
Press main position is centre-back and he if he were to compete in that position then he would have tough competition with the likes of Brandon Cooper, Regan Poole and Ryan Astley.
In midfield however is where he could find a space as a holding midfielder. He’s playing football against players much older than him and has more than held his own in some games.
The 20-year-old was called up to the Wales C squad in March, but the fixture was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
