Cymru Premier octuplet help Marine reach Round Two of FA Cup

Marine have reached Round Two of the English FA Cup and they have the Cymru Premier to thank.

The Northern Premier League side defeated League Two outfit Colchester United 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Marine have seven former Cymru Premier players on their books and some played a key part in reaching Round Two for the first time since 1993.

Anthony Miley, formerly of Bala Town and Bangor City gave the Merseyside outfit the lead before Harry Pell’s equaliser.

Momodou Touray, who spent two loan spells at Barry Town United, before joining Salford City, held his nerve to score Marine’s first spot kick.

Adam Hughes, a defender on loan from The New Saints, also scored his penalty as they secured a historic victory at the Jobserve Stadium.

As well as those who hit the net, Marine also have other players and staff members from the Welsh top flight.

Former Aberystwyth Town and Llandudno boss Alan Morgan is their assistant manager.

Morgan, who led the Seasiders to the Europa League in their first season in the Cymru Premier, is joined at Rossett Park by former Dudno duo James Joyce and Shaw.

Joyce played the whole match whilst Shaw was an unused substitute.

Josh Hmami, formerly of TNS, played 82 minutes in the cup clash.

Ryan Wignall, part of Connah’s Quay’s Cymru Premier winning side was also on the bench.
