Caernarfon Town 1-2 Connah’s Quay: Four red cards as Morris penalty secures battling win

Nine-man Connah’s Quay fought from behind to defeat Caernarfon Town 2-1 at The Oval.

Callum Morris’ penalty in the second minute of stoppage time ensured a winning return after the firebreak lockdown after Mike Wilde’s header cancelled out his namesake Hayes.

The game will be most remembered for the four red cards in which Lee Evans brandished in a chaotic last few minutes of stoppage time.

Sion Bradley was sent off for a second bookable offence before a 22-man brawl saw Callum Roberts and Lewis Brass dismissed meanwhile Noah Edwards was shown a second yellow card.

The home side started the game well and took the game to the Nomads. A few minutes into the game.

Caernarfon had a few strong shouts for a spot-kick, Darren Thomas broke free and found his way into the area and was brought down by Priestley Farquharson, the shouts were waved away by the referee.

Connah’s Quay didn’t look like their usual free flowing selves and were struggling to make an impact on the game, long balls forward towards Mike Wilde were easily dealt with by Cofis skipper Gareth Edwards.

As Caernarfon got more in control of the game, they started to create openings and the first one fell to Mike Hayes.

A fantastic run from Sion Bradley saw him breakthrough the Nomads midfield and even though he was fouled, his pass found Mike Hayes who had plenty of space in the box but his shot was brilliantly saved by Lewis Brass in the visiting goal.

A scuffle escalated from Paulo Mendes’ sliding tackle on Aeron Edwards in which Brass ran from his goal and slung Noah Edwards on the floor. Nomads’ Callum Roberts had also got into a heated exchange with the Cofi’s Gareth Edwards.

Yellow Cards: Mike Hayes 33, Noah Edwards 85, 90, Paulo Mendes 90, Gareth Evans 90
