Swansea City 7-1 Briton Ferry Llansawel: Seven heaven for Swans on return to action
Swansea City claimed an emphatic victory over Briton Ferry Llansawel at Llandarcy Academy of Sport.
Captain Tija Richardson and free-scoring forward Stacey John-Davis both scored hat-tricks as well as a late goal from Emma Beynon.
Megan Kearle, scored her first goal of the season after being introduced as a second-half substitute, but her strike wasn’t enough as Isaac Berry began his reign as manager with a heavy defeat.
The result ensures that Swansea have won all three of their opening league fixtures and responded well after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Apollon Ladies in the Champions League.
Swansea had an early opportunity to score but John-Davis’ effort went wide of the post.
Ria Hughes then followed up with another opportunity after being found by Chloe Chives but her well-struck volley was saved by Courtney Young.
The breakthrough eventually came when John-Davis was found by Laura Davies who placed her strike into the far corner.
A second goal was scored by Tija Richardson who finished after the ball pinball in the box.
Richardson after the break scored her second with an instinctive header.
She then scored her third six minutes later in a similar manner as Chivers delivered a luscious ball in for her to prod home.
Swansea’s rearguard was breached though as Kearle opened her account for the Reds.
The champions stretched their lead to four when John-Davis scored a tap-in.
She became the second player to score a hat-trick as Hughes’s simple cross found her and she slid the ball past the goalkeeper.
To round off a comprehensive victory, Emma Beynon got on the scoresheet.
