Gareth Bale insists he’s raring to go ahead of Wales’ crucial Nations League fixture with Finland tomorrow night at the Cardiff City Stadium.
On Sunday David Brooks kept Wales’ promotion hopes alive after his thunderbolt of a header against the Republic of Ireland ensured that his team are now one win away from sealing league promotion.
Speaking ahead of the game, Bale told the media: “It’s a massive game for us. We knew coming into the Nations League that we wanted to get promoted into the top league so that was something we targeted right at the very start, and with us being in the position we are in now I’m under no illusions why we can’t achieve that.
“Although these games can be crucial for our success going forward, we are also keeping one eye on the Euros so it gives us a chance to work on new things ahead of hopefully another successful summer in the European Championships.
“We’ve done fantastically well so far and for us as a country, it’s important for us to develop that momentum and winning mentality as it will only benefit us going forward into the summer.
Bale, 30, missed out on the last Wales camp through recovery after his summer move from Real Madrid back to Tottenham Hotspur and the forward was left delighted after getting some minutes back under his belt on Sunday.
“For me personally it was great to get 90 minutes under the belt on the weekend and to top it off with a win in the end was great too.
“I’m feeling good, obviously the games are coming thick and fast now, so for me It’s mainly down to recovery at the moment.
“I’ve got to make sure that I’m ready for tomorrow as I’m very much looking forward to the game.”
