Cambrian & Clydach Vale appoint Taffs Well boss Lee Kendall

Kendall was confirmed as the new Wellmen boss this week

Cambrian & Clydach Vale have identified Taffs Well boss Lee Kendall as their next manager to take them forward.

The Rhondda club approached Taffs Well for permission to speak to the 39-year-old and talks have proven to be successful with the former goalkeeper being appointed on a two-year contract.

He will be assisted by Director of Football Mark Morgans and coach Gareth Evans, who will support him in the meantime until he assembles his own coaching team.

The 2019/20 Nathaniel MG Cup finalists were in search of a new manager following Dane Williams’ decision to stand down from his post and have moved quickly to secure his successor.

Commenting on his appointment, Kendall said: “I am over the moon that I have been appointed the manager of Cambrian & Clydach Vale. I would like to thank the board of directors at the club for identifying me as their first choice candidate for the managerial position.

“After our discussions I would like to thank them for also showing belief in my ability and now entrusting me with this role. The vision of the board and the aspiration to achieve Cymru Premier status, as well as stability within the role was simply and opportunity too good to turn down.

“I am looking forward to developing the team on the field and having an input within arguably the best academy in Welsh domestic football.”

Kendall will take charge of his first game of Cambrian against one of his former sides Port Talbot Town in the League Cup next weekend.

Prior to his appointment to Cambrian, Kendall’s previous coaching and managerial experience in the Welsh game came at Barry Town United and Pontypridd Town.

He worked as a first-team coach under Gavin Chesterfield, before moving into management with Pontypridd.

During his time with the Dragons, he led them to safety in the Welsh League, losing just twice in his 11 matches that he oversaw.

Kendall is also studying for the UEFA Pro Licence, the highest coaching qualification in football, which would allow him to manage at Cymru Premier level, should he achieve promotion with his new club.
