Key talking points as Barry Town edge Flint Town in nine-goal thriller

Barry Town got back to winning ways with a 6-3 victory over Flint Town United in a nine-goal thriller at Jenner Park.

Flint Town came close to mounting a second-half comeback, but late goals from Nat Jarvis and Jordan Cotterill saw the Linnets end their six-game winless run.

Jordan Cotterill the talisman

Barry Town’s Jordan Cotterill was one of the star performers for the Linnets.

The midfielder scored the opening goal, neatly prodding past John Danby.

Cotterill was the source of the hosts’ positive attacking performance, notably setting up Nat Jarvis to seal the win.

The playmaker also added his second of the game in injury time to cap off a fine showing.

Sam Bowen’s best performance in a Barry Town shirt

The on-loan Cardiff midfielder was another highlight in Barry Town’s win.

Bowen’s performance was certainly his best since joining the club, netting the second with an emphatic finish after an intricate move from the Linnets.

The playmaker was industrious in midfield throughout and made his mark on the contest.

Clinical Linnets

Despite only scoring 12 goals in as many games prior to today’s result, Barry put in an impressive attacking display.

A criticism of the Linnets this season has been that they haven’t been clinical enough in front of goal, but Gavin Chesterfield’s side proved their doubters wrong, putting six past Flint.

Barry created a number of opportunities and were ruthless in taking them.

Full-back partnership

It has become typical of Barry Town for Chris Hugh and Luke Cummings to be assets in the full-back positions.

Hugh and Cummings were both hugely involved and were always an option on both flanks.

After another impressive performance from the pair, there’s a case to be made that they’re up there with the best full-back partnerships in the Cymru Premier.

Positive attitude from the visitors

Despite falling to a 6-3 loss, Flint Town deserve a great deal of praise for their performance.

The Silkmen battled and were competitive throughout, responding well every time they conceded.

Niall McGuinness’ side built a huge amount of momentum in a dramatic second-half, but couldn’t quite the comeback.
