Analysing the northern section of the Nathaniel MG Cup draw
JD Cymru North clubs will see their first competitive action of the season as the Nathaniel MG Cup gets underway this weekend.
This Saturday sees the return of competitive football for tier two clubs in Wales, who have not kicked a ball in anger since March following the coronavirus pandemic.
There has been some fantastic games in the draw, first out of the hat was newly promoted side Holyhead Hotspur, who will host Llandudno at The New Oval. The Seasiders are now managed by Sean Eardley, who left Caernarfon Town in the summer to return to his hometown team.
Buckley Town welcome promotion favourites Colwyn Bay to The Globe, which should make for a good contest.
Hugo Colace’s Bangor City welcome new-look Gresford Athletic to Nantporth, with the former Barnsley midfielder taking over Pedro Pasculli, with a number of players arriving from around the globe to the Gwynedd.
There has also been a lot of changes at opponents Gresford where Eddie Maurice Jones has gone back there and there’s a lot of excitement around Gresford, following a strong transfer recruitment.
Llanrhaeadr welcome Llangefni, that should be a good contest and it’ll gives us clearer picture on how they’ll do this season.
An interesting battle takes place at the Y Morfa Stadium where Conwy Borough welcome Ruthin Town, there’s been a lot of transition at both clubs.
Conwy Borough will be managed by Matthew Jones, who was let go by Conwy’s local rivals Llandudno.
Ruthin Town meanwhile will be managed by the managerial duo of Phil Hudson and Tommy Holmes, who have moved from Ardal Leagues outfit Brymbo
Both teams have been free-scoring in pre-season and this match offers them an opportunity to continue their form into competitive action.
