Haverfordwest County vs Barry Town United postponed due to COVID-19 issues
Haverfordwest County’s match with Barry Town United has been postponed due to COVID-19 issues.
Just over two hours before kickoff, the Cymru Leagues announced that the game would be rearranged.
A short statement read: “Following advice by Public Health Wales tonight’s game between Haverfordwest County v Barry Town United has had to be postponed.”
Barry Town United offered further clarity to the matter by releasing a statement: “Unfortunately tonight’s game away at Haverfordwest County has been postponed due to a COVID-19 unconfirmed case within our squad.
“Public Health Wales strongly advised that due to the nature of the case and the timing that the game should be postponed until such time that we received the test results.
“It’s our job as a football club and as citizens to minimise the risk and protect our staff, players and those of Haverfordwest County.
“We hope to bring better news to you all tomorrow but in the meantime we send our squad member our very best wishes.”
It was revealed however that the test came back negative and a result the fixture has been rearranged for Wednesday, 16 December.
Earlier this week, Newtown had to postpone their next three fixtures following a positive case in their squad.
Last week, three Welsh Premier Women’s League fixtures were postponed as a result of COVID-19 protocols.
