Luke Jephcott: Wales U21 forward continues fine form with brace

Luke Jephcott was on target twice as Plymouth Argyle drew 2-2 with Charlton Athletic at The Valley.

Wales U21 forward Jephcott put the Pilgrims in front twice but they were unable to hold on for victory as they had to settle for a point at the Valley.

The 20-year-old now has 12 goals in 15 starts this season and is now ranked second in the League One scoring charts.

His form in front of goal has prompted speculation of a move in the January transfer window. However manager Ryan Lowe insists Jephcott will not be moving on from Home Park.

“He’s our player, he’s Plymouth Argyle’s player. He’s not going anywhere any time soon,” said Lowe to the Plymouth Herald in his post-match press conference.

“He’s still not the finished article. He has still got a lot to learn.

Jephcott’s club boss added: “Any goalscorer is going to get recognised but we are not in a position that we need to sell anyone.

“The kid is doing a fantastic job and, ultimately, he’s doing what he gets paid to do – and that’s score goals.

“We are not getting too up or down with him. He’s just a young kid scoring goals, which we are happy about.”

Also on target in the draw in South London was Wales stalwart Chris Gunter.

Gunter, who last scored in January 2018, equalised for the Addicks in his 14th straight league start.
