Llanidloes Town and Penrhyncoch removed from Nathaniel MG Cup

Llanidloes Town and CPD Penrhyncoch have been removed from this season’s Nathaniel MG Cup.

The JD Cymru North pair failed to fulfil their Round One fixtures against Holywell Town and Goytre United respectively and have since been removed.

Both clubs’ reasoning for their decision not to play the matches were due to the increasing number of cases in Wales.

Later on in the month, the Welsh Government imposed Level Four restrictions onto the Welsh public, with elite status for the Cymru Leagues rescinded.

In response to the decision, Llanidloes Town said: “We accept this decision whilst also still being 100% sure we made the correct call at the time of growing virus infections in the locality.

“We have apologised for any disruption caused and wish Holywell Town the very best of luck in the next round whenever it is played.”

Also removed from the competition were Penrhyncoch, who had a similar stance to the Daffs.

“The club accept the decision of the FAW and also appreciate that no fine will be given, nor will any further action against the club be taken following the decision to postpone the cup tie last month against Goytre United due to safety concerns.

“We would like to wish Goytre United good luck in the next round!”

The other outstanding fixture in the first round of the competition is Undy Athletic’s match up with Newport County.
