Nomads defender Priestley Farquharson joins League Two side Newport County
Newport County have signed centre-back Priestley Farquharson from the Connah’s Quay Nomads for an undisclosed fee.
The 23-year-old, who had six-months left on his contract at the Nomads, is moving to the Exiles to aid their promotion push in League Two.
2019/20 Young Player of the Year, Farquharson, won the Cymru Premier and the Nathaniel MG Cup last season, is the seventh signing of the transfer window for Michael Flynn’s side.
In the current campaign, he has made 15 league appearances for the current champions, scoring three goals, including two in their home win of Caernarfon Town. Commenting on his move to Newport, Farquharson said: “I’m delighted to have signed here and I can’t wait to get started. My main aim is to keep out goals, but I can get goals further up the pitch too, so I just want to help as much as I can.
“Connah’s Quay have been great for me and really helped my development. It was the first time they won the league last season, so hopefully I can carry on the winning trend here.
“It’s a big step up from the Cymru Premier to this division, but I feel it is a challenge that he’s ready for.”

“I was a centre-half myself so I know the qualities that are needed and he’s improved vastly since he came in – he’s turned into a man and he’s an outstanding human being and I’m delighted for him.”
During his time at Deeside Stadium, Farquharson represented Connah’s Quay in a host of competitions.
He was part of the Nomads side which reached the final of the Scottish Challenge Cup, losing narrowly to Ross County.
Farquharson also captained his former side in their Champions League debut this season, as well as in their Europa League defeat to Georgian champions Dinamo Tbilisi.
