Barry Town United prize away Lee Idzi from Carmarthen Town

Barry Town United have snapped up experienced goalkeeper Lee Idzi from Carmarthen Town.

The Linnets were in search of a goalkeeper following Josh Gould’s return to Swansea City and have looked to the Cymru South for a replacement.

Idzi spent seven years at Carmarthen Town but has sought pastures new following the Old Gold’s relegation from the Cymru Premier last season.

Commenting on his move to Jenner Park, Idzi said: “I’m looking forward to getting fit and helping the squad. Thank you Carmarthen Town for everything over the last seven years.

“I wish I could have helped you back up but covid and injury denied that.

“I’ve made some great friends and special relationships along the way.”

Adding to his arrival, manager Gavin Chesterfield said: “Lee is someone I worked with very briefly at Haverfordwest a long time ago and my conversations with him have been hugely refreshing.

“I think he’s excited to have a new challenge after being very loyal to Carmarthen over many years. He adds huge experience and character to our squad and I’m very pleased to bring him.”
