Cardiff City have completed a move for Charlton Athletic and Wales international Jonny Williams.

The 27-year-old has Charlton Athletic to join the Bluebirds on a six-month deal for a fee of less than £200,000, however they could extend it.

Williams is Mick McCarthy’s first signing since succeeding former Millwall manager Neil Harris.

McCarthy has worked with the Welshman before at Ipswich Town and will join a three-person strong contingent of Welsh players at the Cardiff City Stadium.

“I’m delighted. I’m really looking forward to working with the Gaffer and Terry Connor again,” said Williams on his move.

“They’re great. I think I played the best football of my career under them at Ipswich. They gave me the belief and freedom to express myself.

“I’m going to give it my best. Hopefully I can score some goals and assist. The main aim is that we win games.

“That’s what I’ve come here to do. To win as many games as I can in a Cardiff City shirt. I can’t wait to get started.”

The ex-Crystal Palace man has played 21 times in all competitions for the South London side in the current campaign but has made only seven League One starts.
