Connah’s Quay Nomads sign former Southampton winger Rio Glean

Connah’s Quay have completed the signing of former Southampton winger Rio Glean.

London-born Glean is 19-years-old and joins the Nomads having spent time in both the academies of Tottenham Hotspur and most recently Southampton.

He is the Nomads’ final bit of business in the January transfer window following the signings of Douglas Tharme, Johnny Hunt and Tom Moore.

Commenting on his latest signing, manager Andy Morrison said: “”I’m really pleased and excited – I’ve seen a lot of footage of him and we’ve spoke to people that he’s worked with.

“This year at times, we’ve gone a little bit different in a system with wing-backs.

“We’ve maybe not had that [Nathan] Woolfe, [Ryan] Wignall, [Michael] Bakare – and nothing excites me more than a winger, someone that has the ability to face the full back up and want to take them on.”
