Paul Pritchard moves to Llangefni Town after Porthmadog season is ended
Experienced goalkeeper Paul Pritchard has put pen-to-paper with JD Cymru North outfit Llangefni Town.
The 36-year-old is moving to the Anglesey club after it was announced earlier this week that Porthmadog’s league season would be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Anglesey-based Pritchard captained Ynys Môn in the Island Games in 2019, where they won the title against Guernsey on home soil.
In a lengthy club career, he has played for clubs such as Caernarfon Town, Connah’s Quay and Rhyl, accumulating more than 100 appearances in the Cymru Premier.
Pritchard also had spells on his home island with Glantraeth, Holyhead Hotspur and Llanfairpwll, as well as a first spell with Llangefni.
Commenting on his move to Cae Bob Parry, Pritchard said: “It’s really disappointing that Porthmadog’s season is cancelled which means I won’t be playing for them this season.
“I can’t thank Craig Papirnyk enough for allowing me to join Llangefni for the remainder of the season. Chris and Llangefni have given me a great opportunity to play in tier two again which I’m really looking forward to and working with Chris, Gerry, Tommo and Mike Innes.”
Pritchard is the second signing of the winter transfer window following the addition of CPD Bangor 1876 starlet Dylan Summers-Jones, who joined in late January.
He will compete with Stephen Sinclair for a starting berth. It is hopeful that Llangefni will begin their season against Colwyn Bay on March 20, but that is subject to the easement of Welsh Government restrictions.
Delighted on his latest addition, manager Chris Roberts added: “Pritch is a top class keeper and will be a great addition to our squad, we knew that a re-start would mean playing a number of games in a short space of time so strength in depth will be vital.
“With Steve Sinclair and Pritch I now have the two best keepers on the island in my opinion which gives us great cover for all scenarios.
