Bow Street promote Llyr Hughes to manager after Barry Williams’ exit

Bow Street have promoted from within and installed Llyr Hughes as their new first-team manager.

Hughes is replacing Barry Williams, who last week stood down from his post, following five years in the role.

He served four years as a player at Cae Piod, before moving into an assistant manager role under the departing Williams.

Prior to his move to the Magpies, he was player-manager at Barmouth.

He also had playing spells at Aberystwyth Town, Penparcau and Penrhyncoch, where he club captain.

Expressing his delight of the appointment, Hughes said: “I am honoured and proud to have been offered the post of manager of Bow Street.

“Barry will be a hard act to follow and I was proud to have worked closely with him over the last few seasons.

In addition, Hughes said: “We have a really good setup here and a good squad of players.

“I am looking forward immensely to leading the club into the Ardal Leagues.

“It will be a big challenge and will mean a lot of hard work for us all, however it is a challenge I am relishing.”

Welcoming Hughes into his new post, their chairman Wyn Lewis added: “As far as we were concerned, he was the obvious and unanimous choice to take the club into the Ardal Leagues which is a new and exciting challenge for this club.

“Llyr has a huge wealth of experience of playing at a high level and also managerial experience.

“He is well respected by all within the club and we are very confident that this will be a very successful appointment.
