The former professionals who could follow Jazz Richards to Cymru Premier
Haverfordwest County have announced the signing of former Cardiff City and Wales defender Jazz Richards.
Richards made the shock move to the Bridge Meadow Stadium, despite having interest from professional sides since his departure from Cardiff City.
The 29-year-old made 13 appearances for the Bluebirds last season, including 11 in the EFL Championship, the second tier of English football.
His move to the West Walian outfit highlights the increasing quality of the Welsh top flight with a number of players with a vast amount of experience in the full-time game winding down their careers in Wales.
Earlier this week, Connah’s Quay signed former Crystal Palace midfielder Neil Danns.
In February, Ammanford signed Swansea City legend Leon Britton, who joined Andy Robinson and Lee Trundle at the Recreation Ground.
Below is a list of players who have links to exiled Welsh clubs or are formerly of the Welsh national team who could be considered as potential signings for Cymru Premier sides.
James Collins
The 37 year old retired from football last October following being without a club since his six appearances with Ipswich Town in the 2018/19 season.
James Collins is the most experience player on the list with a career that has lasted over 19 years in which he made over 250 appearances in the English Premier League with a spell at Aston Villa and two spells with West Ham United.
The second spell with the Hammers being the most successful one in his career as he made over 150 appearances over 6 years with the side .
The Newport born central defender featured 51 times for the Welsh national team over the course of 12 years.
Joe Ledley
The 34 year old is without a club since a short term deal with A-League side Newcastle Jets. The former Cardiff City youngster who is a recent free agent has played for teams in Wales , Scotland and England.
Joe Ledley joined Celtic on a free transfer following the 2010/11 season making 252 appearances for the Welsh side in the process.
The Cardiff born midfielder then spent four years with Celtic making a further 157 appearances for the Scottish side.
The central midfielder joined Crystal Palace in the middle of the 2013/14 season in a deadline day move.
Following from his Crystal Palace career he joined Derby County on a short term deal making 26 appearances in the process in 2017/18 season , his contract was later terminated in 2018/19 after making only four appearances.
The former Welsh international made 77 appearances and scored four goals for the dragons.
Nathan Dyer
The 33 year old is regarded as a Swansea City Legend . The former swan has been without a club since his contract expired last summer after spending 12 years with the Swans .
The player had one of the 12 years at the club out on loan to Premier League side Leicester in which Leicester beat all odds to win the Premier League with Dyer scoring an important goal against Aston Villa in which was the winning goal in the match.
Dyer has been the staple point of the Swans side as he was one of the players who was promoted with the Swans in 2010 and part of the league cup winning side in 2013 . In his career at Swansea City he made over 347 appearances.
There was interest for Dyer from Briton Ferry.
