Caernarfon Town 3-2 Cardiff Metropolitan: Canaries keep top six ambitions on track

Caernarfon Town strengthened their top six ambitions by defeating Cardiff Met 3-2 at The Oval.

Jack Kenny, Mike Hayes and Jake Bickerstaff were all on target as the Canaries took their bid for a top six spot to the final day.

Harry Owen and a last-gasp penalty from Eliot Evans gave Met two consolation goals but ultimately they fell short in the Gwynedd.

The result sees Caernarfon in the driving seat to secure a top-six spot with a three-point gap over the chasing Haverfordwest County.

Met meanwhile stay out of the bottom two after Flint fell to a heavy defeat to TNS.

Caernarfon took an early lead in the first meaningful chance of the match as the Canaries asserted their dominance.

Noah Edwards sent a delicate ball through to Jack Kenny who escaped the challenge of Alex Lang before rolling the ball into the empty net.

The Met searched for an equaliser and nearly had it through loanee Lewis Rees however his free-kick went agonsingly past the post.

Moments later, Rees had another opportunity but Josh Tibbetts rushed off his line to deny him before clearing the ball off the line.

Met grew in confidence as they enjoyed more time on the ball and were peppering Tibbets’ goal with some crosses.
