Liverpool set to offload Welsh duo in summer turnover- reports

Liverpool are putting the wheels in motion for a mass exodus ahead of the summer window according to The Athletic.

This will see up to six players leave Anfield as the club look to raise funds and build on what has been a thoroughly underwhelming campaign.

Amongst those rumoured for the exit door are Harry Wilson and Ben Woodburn, both of whom are not with the first team right now.

Wilson, who is currently on loan with Cardiff City, came close to leaving Merseyside last summer in a deal to join Burnley.

However, the two clubs could not agree a fee for the Welsh International and Wilson instead made a temporary switch to the Bluebirds.

At times, Wilson has struggled for consistency in South Wales, though his undoubted quality has shone through with an outlay of four goals and nine assists in 30 games.

Rightly so, many Cardiff supporters would love the sight of Wilson in City blue next season, but with a quoted 20M asking price, it does seem an unlikely. vision. Unless, of course, the Bluebirds defy the odds to achieve promotion and to do so, they will first need to leapfrog Bournemouth and Reading to secure a playoff position.

The 24-year old has not been short of suitors, either. Previously, the likes of Leeds, Aston Villa have been linked, whereas Bournemouth and Sheffield United are also reported to be keen on the midfielder

Ben Woodburn, meanwhile, has not enjoyed near as much success.

Once touted as a player with enormous potential, Woodburn has struggled for minutes across loan stints with Sheffield United, Oxford and most recently Blackpool.

But after only starting three matches, the attacking midfielder’s spell at Bloomfield Road was cut short prematurely and he has since linked back up with Liverpool’s U23 side.

It is worth noting, however, that Woodburn is still at the tender age of 21. Therefore, he has time to rejuvenate his stagnating career, something which he will be eager to do upon his imminent exit from the club.
