The New Saints appoint Anthony Limbrick as new head coach

The New Saints have appointed former Grimsby Town assistant manager Anthony Limbrick as their new Head Coach.

The Australian was unveiled at Park Hall after taking in his new side’s 4-1 victory over Caernarfon Town in their final game of Phase One.

Limbrick has previously worked as a youth coach with Southampton, and will be assisted by Christian Sergeant, who has been in interim charge since the departure of Scott Ruscoe.

Saints chairman Mike Harris said: “Anthony’s attention to detail was an influencing factor in his appointment as the club embarks on a new era.

“We welcome him to the club, leading the club’s target to achieve a place in the group stage of a UEFA club competition in the next two seasons.”

Born in Tasmania, the 37-year-old moved to the UK to pursue a professional career in football, however his prospects were ended after suffering a serious leg break.

At 19 years of age, he became a youth coach at Boreham Wood, before moving on to a first-team role at Wingate and Finchley.

Limbrick’s most recent experience in senior management came with Woking Town, who he managed from May 2017 until April 2018, with an appearance in the second round of the FA Cup a particular highlight.

Since then, he has assisted both Michael Jolley and Ian Holloway at Grimsby Town.

Speaking on his appointment at the helm of the former Cymru Premier champions, Limbrick said: “I am delighted and proud to be joining this historic club.

“The New Saints have great football traditions that are based on winning, and I am going to work hard to make that happen consistently at the football club.”
