The New Saints continued their winning start under new manager Anthony Limbrick with a ruthless 6-0 win over Barry Town at Jenner Park.

A clinical first-half performance from the Saints saw Ryan Brobbel open the scoring after intricate build-up play, before striker Adam Roscrow’s emphatic finish doubled their lead.

The influential Brobbel continued his fine run of scoring in every game since returning from injury, as he finished superbly to add a third before the break.

Limbrick’s men continued their dominance in the second period, as Brobbel capped off a superb hat-trick before adding a fourth, as defender Ryan Astles also got on the scoresheet.

The victory sees Limbrick’s side remain top of the Cymru Premier table, level on points with Connah’s Quay Nomads, who claimed a 6-1 win at Caernarfon Town.

Barry Town run of three straight victories come to an end, as they fall to their heaviest league home defeat since a 5-0 loss to Caernarfon Town in January 2004.

Both sides came out of the blocks quickly as the early proceedings were end-to-end, with the first chance falling to the hosts.

Former Wales international David Cotterill had a free-kick in a dangerous position, but could only force a comfortable save out of Saints goalkeeper Paul Harrison.

Limbrick’s side responded well by creating a chance of their own, as young prospect Ben Clark found space in-behind the Barry Town defence, only to fire a tame effort at goal.

The New Saints winger Adrian Cieslewicz found joy in cutting inside from the left and almost gave his side the lead with two efforts from the edge of the box, forcing substitute goalkeeper Lee Idzi into action.

The visitors weren’t to be denied however, as they broke the deadlock in the 26th minute for the opening goal.

Intricate build-up play saw the ball drop to playmaker Brobbel, who fired past Idzi to give the Saints the lead.

Gavin Chesterfield’s side responded well to falling behind, as the lively Curtis Jemmett-Hutson drove an effort narrowly wide of the post.

The New Saints were clinical however and showed their quality, doubling their lead in the 31st minute.

Midfielder Clark found space on the right to drive a cross into Roscrow, who emphatically fired home for the second goal.

Roscrow ensured a scoring return to Jenner Park, where he netted a brace for Cardiff Metropolitan University to win the Nathaniel MG Cup final in 2019.

The Saints found the net once again just four minutes later, as Brobbel cut inside from the left and finished superbly into the top corner to put the visitors in a commanding position.

Limbrick’s side’s clinical first-half performance saw them go into the break with a 3-0 lead.

There was no let-up from the Saints in the second period, as an intricate move in the 48th minute saw Brobbel find space in the box to fire past Idzi to secure a superb hat-trick.

The visitors were ruthless and added another just five minutes later, as a dangerous delivery from a corner was headed home by Astles.

Barry Town, to their credit, looked to get themselves on the scoresheet with a spell of positive attacks, but were caught on the break.

A devastating counter-attack from the Saints saw Brobbel cut inside and fire past Harrison for his fourth of the game.

The New Saints defender Blaine Hudson went close to adding a seventh, as he hit the woodwork with a header, before having a goal disallowed for a foul from a corner.

Substitute Leo Smith had an opportunity as he was played in down the left, but was denied well by Idzi in the Barry Town goal.

In a rare second-half chance for the Linnets, Jamie Bird raced onto a ball over the top, but was beaten to the ball by Harrison.

Despite a positive spell for Barry late-on, Limbrick’s side ensured a clean sheet to cap off a rampant victory.

The Saints face a difficult test of hosting Penybont in their next fixture, while Barry Town travel to Connah’s Quay Nomads.
