Hugh Clarke stands down as manager of Llanidloes Town

Hugh Clarke has stepped down as the manager of Llanidloes Town.

Announced by the club on Wednesday evening, the Daffodils announced the departure of the popular boss.

Clarke had been manager of the club since November 2015 after succeeding Mike Barton.

A defender in his playing career, Clarke played for Caersws, Newtown and Rhayder Town.

In a short statement, the club said: “It is with great regret that the club has accepted the resignation of director of football and joint first team manager Hugh Clarke.

“We have nothing but good wishes for Hughie and wish him all the best in the future. There will always be a place in the club for him.”

Clarke lead Powys-based club to promotion in the 2019/20 season after the Mid Wales League was curtailed.

He was unable to manage them in the Cymru North however as their season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Llanidloes did not compete in the Nathaniel MG Cup either as they opted not to play against Holywell Town due to the then increasing number of cases in Wales in December.

Adam Worton and Dave Jerman will work as interim joint-managers whilst the club seeks a successor.
