Cardiff City Women are to play home match at the Cardiff City Stadium

Cardiff City will play their Welsh Premier Women’s League fixture with Briton Ferry Llansawel at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The match which will be streamed by Cardiff City TV will take place on Sunday, May 9th, 2021, is the first home fixture the Bluebirds Women’s side will have played at the stadium, which has housed international matches and the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

It is the first Welsh Women’s domestic fixture to take place at the venue since the 2017/18 FAW Women’s Cup final, in which Swansea City defeated Cardiff 2-1.

“We’re very grateful for the support from the Club,” said head coach Iain Darbyshire to the club’s official website.

“Things have picked up really quickly and now we’ve got this great occasion to look forward to. It’s great for the girls. It’s a reward for them. It’s also big for the Women’s game in Wales.

“It’s another chance to showcase what we can do to the Cardiff City fans. It’s exciting for us and our opponents, Briton Ferry.

“It’s going to be a challenge for us all. We’re very thankful to the league and S4C for allowing this to happen. Now we’ve got to go in and put in a performance.”
