Connah’s Quay took a step closer to the Cymru Premier title after a 0-0 draw with The New Saints at Deeside Stadium

Both sides played to an even affair with few opportunities in a nervy affair.

The draw leaves Anthony Limbrick’s side needing the Nomads to drop points if they are to reclaim their title from their bitterest rivals.

Connah’s Quay had the chance to put the ball into the box early on as Oliver Byrne sent a free kick in. He was unable to find a teammate and the ball went out for a goal kick.

TNS looked to work the ball down the right in the early goings with Adrian Cieslewicz trying to cross across the Nomad’s box but he put the ball out for goal kick.

The Nomads won a free kick in a good position after Chris Marriott fouled Jamie Insall. Declan Poole whipped the set piece towards the far post but it had too much on it and Horan was unable to get on it.

Poole had another chance with a free-kick but this time he could only find Blaine Hudson. The TNS defender was able to head away.

In a game with plenty of fouls being committed The Nomads had another good placed free-kick. This time Daniel Davies bent the ball around the wall but it was easy for Harrison in the TNS goal.

Towards the end of the half, TNS had their best two chances of the half. Marriott tried from distance and Robles set up Brobbel who shot wide.

Connah’s Quay looked to open the scoring as they looked to use long throws to break the deadlock. Building their way forward they won a corner. Kris Owens sent in the corner which forced Blaine Hudson to head it over the bar.

In a game where chances are a premium a Ryan Brobbel corner towards the far post found Ryan Astles coming in late at the far post. Astles headed into the side netting.

TNS possibly should have a had a penalty when Michael Wilde handed clearing from Harrisons free kick.

Neither side could come up with clear chances Michael Wilde saw another shot blocked by the TNS defence.

In what was the only drama of the game, Daniel Redmond was shown a red card late on for two fouls in quick succession.
