Wales are facing an anxious wait over Ben Davies‘ fitness for the Euros after the defender was ruled out for the remainder of the Premier League season.
Left-back Davies has been out of action since sustaining a calf injury in Spurs’ win over Aston Villa at the end of March.
The 28-year-old was absent from Wales’ two World Cup qualifiers against Belgium and the Czech Republic as a result of the injury.
The defender now faces a race to be fit for the delayed Euro 2020 competition, which is just the second time the Welsh have qualified for the tournament.
Commenting in Spurs’ pre-match presser with Wolverhampton Wanderers, interim manager Ryan Mason said: “It is just Ben Davies out. I’d be surprised if he’s in contention for any of our remaining fixtures.”
“It is too early to make a decision on the Euros.”
Caretaker boss Rob Page does have natural left-backs Neco Williams and Rhys Norrington-Davies to call upon should Davies be ruled out of the showpiece event.
St Pauli defender James Lawrence can also operate as a left-back as well as centurion Chris Gunter.
There is a piece of positive news for Wales however in their selection process as Tom Lockyer has begun an extended training schedule to get himself fit.
Lockyer, had surgery on his ankle in April after sustaining an injury against Cardiff City whilst playing for Luton Town.
The 26-year-old has made 13 appearances for Wales and will be hoping to be in contention for the squad at this summers’ European Championship.
