Andy Morrison has confirmed that he will be staying on as Connah’s Quay manager into next season as the club revert back to a part-time model.
Following last Saturday’s Cymru Premier title-winning victory over Penybont, Morrison was coy about his future with the Nomads.
Speaking to the club’s YouTube channel he said: “We’re in a really strong position, we’ve just won the league and we are going into the Champions League.
Now after speaking to the club’s chairman Morrison will be remaining with the Nomads for a seventh season.
“We have a very competitive part-time budget, I’m excited by it and ready to go again.
“When speaking to the players over the past couple of days in relation to going forward and seeing the eyes of young lads or senior players, the intensity, the desire and the fire is still there.
“It inspires me to go ‘I don’t want to leave this, I want to be a part of this going forward’
“I’m as positive tonight as I have been in a long time and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
Another topic of conversation between Morrison and the Nomads hierarchy was how the club can be sustainable.
“I can keep going to my chairman and asking him to put his hand is his pocket.
“But when that money is coming from the same source it makes it difficult to continue funding the team.
“We’ve had a model were we’ve been half full-time half part-time. We’ve looked at the structure of that and decided that we are going to go back part-time.
“We will be completely part-time going forward, we believe that makes it more realistic to go season after season.
“We don’t want to end up like some of the other teams that have had financial problems.
“It also means that I go back to being a part time manager.”
In his six years at the Deeside Stadium, the 50-year-old has won four trophies with high work ethic being a key feature of his side.
But the 50-year-old has assured Nomads fans that will not change with the club going back to part time.
“It excites me because I know the energy and the quality of the playing staff.
“I know the intensity and the preparation for each game won’t drop off.
“Who ever it is in that first game of the season that’s all that’s in front of us, all we need to do is find a way to win that game.
Morrison also revealed that a couple of players will remain full-time for the near future.
“If we are a part-time club we want to be the best part-time club and we want to compete with the only part-time club in TNS.
“In the past, our budget was 50 percent of TNS’, last season it was probably 60 percent but next season it’ll only be about 30 percent.
