Former Wales youth international Ntazana Mayembe has been selected in Zambia’s senior squad for their friendlies in June.
The Cardiff City winger has previously represented both Wales and England as a schoolboy but has now chosen go represent Zambia.
Mayembe was born in Bridgend and qualifies for the Chipolopolo through his family.
More recently he was selected for Wales U18 squad in March for their friendly against England before withdrawing.
He joined the Championship side at U10 level and has progressed to play in both the U18 and U21 sides.
The 18-year-old was a part of the youthful Cardiff side that beat Taffs Wells 5-1 during 2019/20 pre season.
Mayembe is reportedly highly rated by youth coaches at Cardiff and has been the subject of interest from Manchester United in the past.
He was named on the Blubirds’ bench in their 2-1 Championship win over West Brom in January 2020.
Zambia are currently ranked 87th in the FIFA World Rankings.
They boast the likes of Salzburg duo Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu alogside Rangers bound Fashion Sakala.
Mayembe is one of many new faces in Mulitin Sredojevic’s 36-man provisional as Zambia seek to improve their national side.
The squad includes players from Sweden, Tanzania, Israel, DR Conga, Russia and South Africa.
Zambia play Senegal, Benin and Sudan in friendlies between 5 June and 11 June.
Should Mayembe take to field for Zambia he would not be ruled out from representing Wales as the matches are non competitive friendlies.
