Cymru Premier clubs find out potential second qualifying round opponents
Cymru Premier sides Connah’s Quay The New Saints, Bala Town and Newtown have today found out their opponents for the second qualifying round of the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League.
Today’s draw offered Welsh clubs a clearer path in to what lies in store for them if they are successful in their first round ties. Meanwhile the Nomads, will drop into the competition should they fail to beat Armenian champions Alashkert.
Andy Morrison’s side will play the loser of the first qualifying round tie between Ferencvárosi TC and the winner of the preliminary round. Havnar Bóltfelag, Inter Club d’Escaldes, FC Prishtina and S.S. Folgore are the four teams involved in the play-offs.
For The New Saints, should they beat Glentoran, they face a possible reunion with Europa FC or Lithuanian opposition once more in Kauno Žalgiris.
In 2017, the Oswestry side beat Europa 4-3 on aggregate to progress in the Champions League, meanwhile, they beat MŠK Žilina in qualifying last season.
For third placed Bala Town, it is plain and simple for them. If they overcome Larne, they will face Danish outfit AGF Aarhus. The Lakesiders will play at Ceres Park, the ground in which Wales played Denmark in the 2018 Nations League.
Newtown, who face a tough ask in beating Dundalk have two possible destinations in either Estonia or Gibraltar.
They will face the winner of St Josephs and Levadia Tallinn.
The second qualifying round will take place on July 22 and July 29.
