Former Caernarfon defender Gareth Edwards lands new club in Airbus

Defender Gareth Edwards has completed a move to Airbus UK Broughton after leaving Caernarfon Town.

The 37-year-old, left Caernarfon Town last month, to be closer to home with his family and the Wingmakers have fitted the bill for his next club.

Gareth Edwards spent seven years at the JD Cymru Premier outfit after joining from Cefn Druids in 2014.

Edwards led the Cofis to two Cymru Alliance titles and two Cymru Alliance League Cup. He also captained the Cofis in the Cymru Premier.

A memorable moment in his career in the yellow of the Canaries was scoring the winner against local rivals Bangor City in the Welsh Cup in front of a crowd of over 2,000 at Nantporth.

In the last campaign, he played a total of 23 times, scoring twice, as he led them to a Europa Conference League play-off final defeat to Newtown.

He reunites with his former Caernarfon teammate Jamie Crowther at the Airfield. Crowther last season left Caernarfon but returned for a loan spell to The Oval due to the non-start of the Cymru North.

Commenting on his move to Airbus, Gareth Edwards stated his ambition was to be promoted with his new club: “Promotion is the main aim without a shadow of a doubt. I want to bring promotion and get the club back to where it belongs.”

Airbus have also completed the signing of Callum Humphries from Buckley Town, Humphries is also excited and is aiming for the top.

“I am excited to join and want to help get the club back to the top”
