FTSL Futsal Club 11-0 University of South Wales: Emphatic victory places FTSL top of Southern section

FTSL Futsal Club broke into double figures as they swept aside the University of South Wales as claimed an 11-0 victory.

The Newport-based side are now top of the Southern section after their convincing win and will play defending champions Swansea University in their next fixture.

FTSL had a five-goal advantage at the break and added a further six in the second-half.

Dale Cooke and Ross Oakley both netted braces in the first half, with player-manager Rico Zulkarnain scoring in between. 

Josh Brown then added a further two in the second half with Connor and Taylor Street also on target. Conor Yeates also scored, as well as forcing an own goal from USW.

FTSL started putting on the pressure and Josh Brown shot just wide. Shortly after FTSL had the lead as Ross Oakley headed in from a well-placed cross to FTSL the lead after two minutes.

Two minutes later Rico Zulkarnain showed his quality cutting inside a defender and slotting the ball into the goal for a quickfire second.

Once in front FTSL kept the pressure on with Armani Brown shooting over before Zulkarnain spun away from his marker and shot just wide.

USW had a spell of possession but struggled to break into FTSL’s half thanks too good work off the ball by FTSL.

FTSL had a chance on a three on one break, Richard Jones saving well from Ross Oakley.

On ten minutes FTSL had their third as Dale Cook finished off a quick counter attack from close range.

Dale Cook had his second after 12 minutes with a tap in after good play from FTSL.

USW did start to have some pressure as the half wore on. Robert Pritchard having a go from range but Matt Morris making the save.

Josh Brown made it five before the break with his dipping effort going in off the inside of the crossbar.

FTSL started the second half in fine fashion. First quickly Dale Cook found Ross Oakley who tucked the ball into the net after the restart. A minute later, Josh Brown’s defected effort put FTSL in seventh heaven.

Another goal came moments later, Connor Street found the top corner with FTSL showcasing the gulf in class.

Rico Zulkarnain was pulling the strings in this game and his pass found Connor Yates to score on 27 minutes.

FTSL kept passing the ball around the court, looking for openings. After a good passing move on 30 minutes Josh Brown was on hand to finish the move off.

In an attempt to get their goalkeeper in the action, Matt Morris came up the court and had a couple of shooting chances hitting them just wide.

As the game came to a close Zulkarnain cut past a defender and put the ball between the keepers’ legs to finish off the scoring.
